Who am I? I Am He.
Who am I? I am a man that has endured, persevered and prospered during this journey called life. I was born into a family that enabled me to have loving parents. I am a man that cares about others before himself. A servant in every capacity is the way I live my life but sometimes even the servant desires to be served and adored.
Childhood
Private school education taught me and gave me the spiritual foundation to have compassion and empathy. Without those two characteristics, a person lacks the humanity to serve others. Growing up Black had a negative connotation in the seventies and eighties. Sometimes I even had self-hate of my color, but it just took one listen to Marvin Gaye’s album, “What’s Going On” and I realized that I am proud to be Black and I wanted to make a difference for generations to come.
Adulting
Struggling with marriage and divorce, I finally found the person that God meant for me to marry, my wonderful wife. Our blended family consists of three children and three grandchildren. The recent passing of both of my parents and best friend put life in a whole new perspective. I live each day like it is my last and I love the space that I am in. Never let others, no matter who they are, drag you into their pit of disdain. I live my life like a race car driver with training wheels on my car. Meaning that I love the race, but I race with deliberate intent to be careful yet carefree.
Profession
Coming from a law enforcement and code enforcement background, I found that my willingness to serve others allowed me to mentor, coach, and help others obtain their goals. You see, the empathy and compassion that I spoke about allowed me to use my training and my soul to create an environment of safety and servitude to all. I am a manager for the City of Aurora, Illinois, the business owner of Code Performance Consultants, and a managing partner of the Standards and Codes Academy. All these entities are modeled after the servant leadership model. I am a servant leader spreading the message of positivity to anyone willing to listen.
Resilience
Life can, and will, take you on a journey that will surprise and startle you. I am no different than anyone else. Healing comes in different forms. Sometimes your faith can help you heal. Sometimes a loved one can help you heal. Since I am a singer as well, music often, helps me get through a crisis. Music and faith are the two prominent factors that help me, “Get through”. Songs are the key to life that tells our stories as vivid as a memory. If there was a song that depicts me, it would be “We Are The World”.
This is me…

This is awesome! I had saved to read when I had a quiet moment and this is mind blowing. We are a lot alike! Taking care of everyone yet desiring to be taken care of of. Very powerful words!
