JONATHAN | ACTOR, TEACHER & COMEDIAN

My dad wanted me to be a preacher like him.

My mom wanted me to be a strong member of the community.

After spending several years in the field of direct marketing, I finally answered my higher calling—just like they wanted—ACTING. Ha! Not just an actor, but an actor and a comedian.

I don’t want to be known as one or the other because both are a part of me. I’ve learned over time that people will see what they want to see. It has taken trial and error and trial and error and trial and error (you get the picture) that I have to know who and what I am for me. Everyone else will figure it out, or they won’t. I can’t waste time and energy on their opinion of me, or hoping that they will think who and what I am is “acceptable” enough for them.

I am a father, husband, voice over artist, teacher, Second City Touring Company alum, man of faith, connoisseur of over the edge comedy and most things sci-fi. I am also a person who doesn’t care anymore.

Now, hold on before you click away, get riled up, or think, Aw man, I was starting to like this guy but now… Let me explain. I’ve realized that partially due to pigeonholing, social media algorithms, and saturated news sources: I don’t care if you’re gay, straight, trans… I don’t care if you’re Jew, Muslim, Atheist… I don’t care if you’re from South Carolina, South Sudan, or the South Side of Chicago… I don’t care if you like Star Trek, Star Wars, or Dancing with the Stars… I don’t care if you’d rather drive a Pontiac Aztec instead of a Dodge Challenger (I don’t understand that AT ALL but, if that’s your thing, cool.) Because what I care about is that you’re cool and respectful of others. At the end of the day, that is all that’s needed. Unless you’re a Packers fan… sorry, couldn’t help it!
