I Hope
I hope sometime soon humankind will fully understand that we are all born of the same source. We are meant to connect with, love, and accept our neighbors regardless of our differences.
I hope that our children, grandchildren, and beyond will once again know what it is like to experience a carefree childhood.
I hope I will live long enough to see my son accomplish all the things I believe he dreams of.
I hope my family knows how fiercely my heart beats for them.
I hope my friends know they are cherished gifts.
I hope people will begin to accept each other without stereotypes, prejudice, or judgment.
I hope for a time when everyone will take accountability for hurtful actions instead of expecting the ones being hurt to accept that abuse.
I hope we will all find the strength to look in the mirror and do the work necessary to heal our broken pieces.
I hope that someday the value of human life will outweigh the craving for money.
I hope we reach a time when society views caring for the marginalized communities of our world as more crucial than stock market numbers.
I hope that keeping this planet clean, and conserving all life forms, becomes an intentional vision for all who share in its goodness.
I hope for a collective awareness that showing love and compassion to someone can change the entire trajectory of their life.
I hope that before my time on earth ends I will have mended any hearts I was responsible for breaking.
I hope a day comes when no person must live with the reality that the color of their skin makes them a target for destruction.
I hope there comes a time when no mother has to watch their child murdered on television by a person who should have provided them safety but instead chose to act out their feelings of hatred and superiority, so confident that they would be protected by the law.
I hope the evil which lies behind this hate that drives racism will be exposed and eradicated.
I hope someday we can wholeheartedly trust the leaders of this country.
I hope the God of all creation will reveal Himself to every soul on earth in the way He means for us to see, know, and understand Him.
I hope one day the world will comprehend love as a necessary, intentional action, not just a word attached to ever-changing feelings.
Who are you and what do you hope for?
I am the merging of colors, black and white. I am both different and same, realized in love. I am a glimpse of possibility, for a remaining and continued dream, we have battled to attain for centuries. I am acceptance, reconciliation, equality, love. I am the midpoint, the meeting place.
I hope we meet, and when we do, I hope we choose love.
